The activities of the SCDDS are concerned with all aspects
of basic and continuing vocational education for art- and design-related professions at the upper secondary level. These activities focus upon the maintenance of and improvement of the quality of education.

The SCDDS constitutes an information platform for all
educational institutions providing training in the visual arts,
and it supports and encourages exchange amongst
its members.

The SCDDS communicates with federal, cantonal, and local authorities and assumes an active role in educational develop- ment on a national and international level.
